FOREST PARK AVIARIES

A FAMILY CONCERN  LOCATED IN COLUMBIA STATION, OHIO

How could we not be deeply influenced in our quest  here at Forest Park Aviaries to offer the finest-quality birds by the goings-on close-by in our natural surroundings?
We will continue to do our very best,  of course,  to meet the very high standards of pet-bird quality, personal  ethics, helpfulness and general conduct now expected of Forest Park Aviaries.
Our  "watch-word" is  "Personal Integrity is Our Guarantee!"   Here at Forest Park Aviaries,  we have  a developing Family hobby dedicated to the energetic pursuit of "Quality", suitably involving fellow bird-lovers, and to the breeding and provision of the very best hand-fed and hand-trained pet-quality Hookbills, and other pet birds, into many parts of  Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan and  West Virginia.
Forest Park Aviaries is owned and operated by Dr.Geoff and Dixie Gammon - and perhaps more about us later! At this point, suffice to say that our involvement with "our birds" has opened our own eyes, perhaps not so very long ago,  to many of the "mutual strength and quality of life"-building qualities that serious involvement in the breeding of pet-birds can bring! We are both reminded of the poetry of Longfellow's words below, and find it most interesting to interpret them to reflect our own personal circumstances:

"Enjoy the Spring of Love and Youth,
         To some good angel leave the rest;
For Time will teach thee soon the truth,
There are no birds in last year's nest!"
Longfellow's "It Is Not Always May", 1841.

You may wish to interpret the above in terms of your own personal circumstances!  Here at Forest Park Aviaries, suffice to say that we are now well-placed to deliver fully on our "promises" of guaranteed personal integrity and ongoing customer satisfaction as we continue to supply our hand-reared pet-birds into the Ohio and wider markets.
Also, here at Forest Park Aviaries, we should perhaps best describe ourselves as "Hobbyist Conure, Parrot, Quaker Parakeet and Parrotlet Breeders" - or "Hookbills" to use a more general term.  Starting in late-Year 2005, we have now re-located our birds and aviaries, not to mention  our complete breeding program, to Columbia Station, Ohio 44028,  where we have  successfully regenerated and modernised our facilities to have them become near-"state-of-the-art" indoor/outdoor aviaries for Hookbills  breeding, both in colonies and design cages.     Increasingly, we will be continuing to offer for for sale from our aviary location and at the many Ohio Bird Fairs which we regularly attend our impressive selection, as available, of  Normal Green and Mutation (Blues & Yellows) Pacific Parrotlets, Normal Green and Mutation (Cinnamons, Yellow-sides, Splits and soon Pineapples), Normal Green and Blue Mutation Quaker (Monk) Parakeets, Sun Conures, Peach-fronted Conures, Half-Moon (Petz) Conures, Brown-Throated Conures, Senegal Parrots, and Fancy Cockatiels.
Whilst a few of the birds we offer are of essentially adult, mature breeder quality, we specialize primarily in handfed, well-socialized pet-quality youngsters, which will quickly adapt to their new circumstances in their new homes. We intend to regularly update this web-site and to include many digital images showing our  customers with their new family additions!
If you appreciate our personal conduct and enjoy the birds we supply into pet-bird market-place, please kindly let us know! We will, of course, request your permission to include your messages into our web-site content . We are sure that all our customers will be supremely happy with us - but let us see, and judge us on our results!
Our MISSION is not only to achieve complete "customer satisfaction" with our pet birds that, hopefully you will decide to purchase from  us here at Forest Park Aviaries, but also to provide all the back-up support and information that our serious actual and potential customers might need. There are numerous ways in which you can contact us personally, if you so wish, or you can meet us personally at most of the Ohio Bird Fairs.   I, "Geoff", can be easily identified as "that (now ex- !) English Guy", the across-the-pond country where I was born, raised and lived for many years - although I have enjoyed American Citizenship here now for almost three years!  Also, my wife Dixie here at Forest Park Aviaries will undoubtedly keep you very much engaged in a whole variety of conversation topics if you so wish to speak with her likewise - sometimes she may actually discuss our birds - but our dogs, Sylvie and Rita, are really her first-love!  For my part, as a senior ex-Research Manager with an International Petroleum & Chemicals Company, my career ensured that I dealt with numerous science-related issues every day! When I retired, I found that I could most pleasingly combine my love of birds and the outdoors with my love of science, by becoming inextricably involved in the breeding of pet birds towards "genetic excellence"! A number of indoor/outdoor aviaries and so many, many birds later, Forest Park Aviaries has now come to life as a major new project in our lives!
Also, just to reinforce the "Great Companion's" catalog (Spring 2004 edition) quotation : For Geoff, " It's been exciting to settle here in Ohio, and bird breeding gives me a great chance to meet other fellow bird-lovers in the region", and to enjoy the various and numerous Ohio Bird Fairs organized by my great lady-friends, Marti, Vicky,  Gracey, Melissa, and Ann.  Details of these bird shows (dates. locations, etc.) can be found elsewhere on this FPA web-site. Please, if any of you folks out there wish to meet us, please ask any of our fellow vendors at any of these upcoming Ohio Bird Fairs to meet the "ex-"English Guy, Geoff" and/or his wife, "Dixie"!
In conclusion, let us note just a couple or three key points:
1. Our breeding of Mutation Green-Cheeked Conures (Yellow-sides, Cinnamons, and Turquoise mutations, and various Splits), is steadily becoming one of our major "areas for concentration" and expertise - so kindly let us know if this is likewise one of your own speciality areas,
2. Please make yourself known to us at any one of the upcoming Ohio Bird  Fairs and/or feel most free to contact us directly by telephone or e-mail or via our web-site - and to keep in touch with happenings at Forest Park Aviaries by regularly visiting our web-site, www.forestparkaviaries.com.
3. Since the above words we written, we have now extended our breeding facilities to include Normal Green and Mutation Pacific Parrotlets, Normal Green and Mutation Quaker Parakeets, and also our now 5-6+ year old Congo African Grey Parrots have started to lay their first eggs!

Hope to meet with you soon!
Geoff & Dixie - Columbia Station, Ohio  44028.

Dear Dr. Geoff and Dixie Gammon,
We bought two sun conures at the Ohio Bird fair last fall. We wanted to
update you on our wonderful feathered kids. We could not split them up, so
we decided to keep both together. They have been absolutely fantastic and we
are so happy that we got them from you. We were concerned that they were
not going to get along with our three other cockateils, but they all get
along beautifully. At times they refuse to go into their separate cages and
sleep together. We will stop at the next bird fair and hope to thank you
both personally. Wishing you the best,
Engelbert, Anna and Monika, Fifi, Lulu, Pierre, Baby, and Birdie Baby Gal
PS. Picture is enclosed, since this was taken, they have nearly completely
filled in their color.

SOME MESSAGES FROM OUR NEW-FOUND FRIENDS
Good afternoon Geoff and Dixie!
Just wanted to give you an update on Oliver.  You may remember us we were the family w/the two smaller children and the teenager?
Well Oliver has settled in nicely!  He has become a chatter box.  He can say numerous things, but most are difficult to understand, we can clearly make out the word “Bird” and sometimes it sounds like he is getting the hang of other words such as “pretty bird” and “hello”.  He loves to come out and will sit at the bottom of his cage and hop up and down and yell until he gets my daughters attention.  He spends hours with the kids and lays in the bed w/them and watches cartoons.  He snuggles in my daughter’s hair and falls asleep.  He sits on her shoulder while she colors and plays dolls.  He is also becoming a Play Station expert, as he will sit with the kids while the play games on their Play Station or even their Game Boy.
He is the cleanest bird in Medina as he takes baths often.  He sits on my shoulder while I do the dinner dishes and sometimes decided he wants a bath, so I have to stop and but a bowl in the other side of the sink so he can take his bath.  He loves to be dried w/the blow dryer.  He will lay on his back in a towel and I dry his belly, then he will flip over and I dry his wings.  He is a lot of fun!  Thought you might enjoy the update.
